This year’s Vivid Live has an exciting lineup of music and performance. At the Opera House, Florence + the Machine is a standout – unfortunately sold out but put yourself on the waitlist and they might schedule another. Sydneycool’s pick of the others is Brazilian musician Amon Tobin’s ‘Isam’ – a 3D audiovisual spectacular – Amon has had sold out tours across Europe and North America.
Up there also is Karen O (from Yeah Yeah Yeah) in Stop the Virgens A Psycho Opera – this features fifty artists on stage and has been seven years in the making – it sounds like this is the must see.
There are creative ideas events – like Henry Holland and Jessica Fletcher in conversation about the role of celebrity in fashion. Holland is golden boy at London Fashion Week – and knows lots about celebrity and fashion.
And of course, the light – this year, there’s the new project artwork from German collective Urbanscreen transforming the Opera House with their interpretation of the sails. Elsewhere in the CBD, there are over 50 interactive light scupltures on buildings like the new MCA and the Customs House. Check the lights out from 6 pm on 25 May.
And thinking about the environmental impact of Vivid Live 2012, Origin Energy is offsetting carbon emissions from the festival – now that’s cool.
