I think it’s to do with the fact that it’s a large space sliced up (excuse the pizza pun but I could not resist) into sections. There’s two white marble bars at opposite ends of the room with a scattering of tables, a private dining area and nooks and crannies everywhere. These are the things that make a Fratelli Fresh restaurant work – breads, dry goods, walls of wine, young chatty staff with an accent etc – you know what I mean. Fratelli Fresh does this the best of all the formula restaurants bars.
The Food: Everything they do is delicious, sometimes a little heavy and masking with their flavours but in general good. Potato and rosemary pizza – a salad of shredded cabbage with parmigano reggiano and balsamico. But for me, the winner every time is the panfried crispy skin trout – the sprinkling of herbs on the skin, Deserts are all the classics and the wine list is very good. But this place does not sell itself as fine dining and it’s not!
Fratelli Fresh is a pizza and wine bar – with a lot more up its sleeve than you might think. We always enjoy eating at this cool Sydney restaurant.
PS – love the flooring
