A warm Sydney night – the stage was in the middle of College St in front of St Mary’s Cathedral and what a dramatic choice of location for this near hour long performance. The performance combined trapeze and aerial stunts, dramatic visuals on screen and a message about climate change and why we need action now. But this was more than theatre or dance – Wired Aerial Theatre company from the UK gave us a powerful tale about the crisis facing planet Earth.
These aerial perfomers dramatically re-created the Copenhagen conference and took us on a journey about the impacts if we don’t change. The audience response said they want action now! – pity some of our politicians and climate change deniers didn’t hear it.
A great thought-provoking Opening Night to the 2012 Sydney Festival – we’re looking forward to lots more great events during the Festival. If you missed ‘As the World Tipped’, go see it as part of the Parramatta Opening Party next Saturday 14th January.
