My first visit is Tuesday 3pm. I am the only person here but something tells me this place stumps up in the early evening as a young crowd will chill out on there – night time glass of happy drink, food and music fitting to a seriously COOL crowd. After all it’s Darlinghurst – wouldn’t mind if this was my local haunt for an evening glass of wine. My coffee has arrived, so I will sit back and enjoy and resume my rave later.
The coffee was good not great but I do love the mismatch vintage cup and saucer. Wish I had someone with me so we could have a bit of a chit chat – will come for a drink tonight with a friend. Yes I am very happy in this bar.
The look is the original old laundromat with some nice additions, all vintage feel, lots of pictures on walls- Staff laid back and chatty, One sitting area has laundry hanging from the ceiling on a drying line.
There is a paved backyard with tables and chairs – great on a warm Sydney night. There was a lovely smell of orange and cardamom, being brewed up on the stove from the open kitchen bar as one of the staff was preparing some sort of drink for that evening, Was told it’s good with rum, yum yum!!
Food. We returned a few days later for lunch – the menu was casual bar food as we thought, but interesting. I had a warm chorizo and white bean salad sitting on a bed of baby spinach, very good flavours but wish the chorizo and white beans didn’t look so mushy, Other than that the presentation was good – my friend had the Laundry Plowman’s Platter, it looked great and it was very good. We both had Tsing Tao Beer, All up pretty good – long may the small bars reign.
